The Christian Center is a rescue shelter located downtown Anderson. It offers emergency shelter for guests with immediate physical needs. However, the Christian Center is not just a homeless shelter. Programs such as the community dining room, community assistance, and the thrift shop also help to serve the hurting in the community of Anderson.

The Christian Center also has facilities to house men for up to 30 days, during which time the staff will evaluate their needs and help determine their next step. One such step may include the Christian Center’s men’s program, which is an 18-24 month program that helps them establish goals, find a job, and become self-sufficient. Not only does the men’s program meet these physical needs, but it also encourages these men to put their trust in Christ and help them grow in their faith during their stay.

In addition to being a rescue shelter, the Christian Center also features a community dining room, which is open to those in the community who need a warm meal. They serve an average of 200-250 meals per day thanks to volunteers, church groups, and individuals who give of their time or make donations. Through the community dining room, members of the community are able to contribute to the vast needs within the community, helping to bring hope and healing to the brokenness within the city of Anderson. Beyond providing meals, the Christian Center also provides community assistance for those who need additional assistance making a new beginning for themselves or during a rough patch.

Last but not least, the Christian Center runs the Red Door Vintage & Thrift shop. The shop is stocked with donations from the community, and proceeds from the shop go directly back to the various ministries of the Christian Center.

This ministry goes beyond the Christian Center itself and is a partnership of the entire community. A number of businesses and organizations in the community support this rescue shelter, including Community Hospital Anderson, St. Vincent Anderson Regional, Mustin Builders, Lampco Federal Credit Union, Allstate, Ricker’s, and many more.
